intimacy

the lights are out, a candle flickers nearby casting shadows on the wall, and we are once again nestled in each other's care.

i have missed you. as i wrote once in one of my poems, it's not just you i miss but the me i am with you i miss when i miss you. when you are gone i miss your presence in my life, miss your insights and your humor and your loveliness. but i also miss what it is you bring out of me when i am with you. when you are gone i miss you and i miss us.

i love intimacy. i love being sensuous and seductive, even flirtatious with you. i love teasing and tempting you in quiet, elegant ways. i love being close to you, as close as possible without touching you, making you want me to come just a little closer. i love it when you want me so much you can't stand it anymore and you reach out and pull me to you. i love feeling the depth of your desire as it meets my own.

i love the intoxicating smell of you and the smell of me and the smell of us together. our scent becomes a cloak that surrounds us, envelops us.

how can it be that so many believe sex defines intimacy, when intimacy is sex and so much more. intimacy comprises far more than an orgasm. intimacy is being with you and touching you and knowing you. i indulge in every moment of our being together, every touch of every part of who you are. your body is precious, a treasure, a deep pleasure for me. as many times as i touch you, every time is with the wonder and joy of the first time.

when i touch you, i love your response. i love feeling your pleasure in what i give. i love how your pleasure becomes my own. when you respond to my body taking pleasure in yours, you are giving me the gift of feeling the pleasure of my own. when i feel your response to my touch i become the gift, the giver and the receiver all in one and there is no distinction of who is giving and who is receiving. this is our gift to each other.

we hold each other and in our holding we are one, comforter and comforted, by and to each other. we are one.

This piece is beautiful. The first line grabbed me and I couldn't stop reading. You define love and intimacy so well.

as i read,you...
felt bit known...

your words and the warmth..
flows through...

suttle but straight...
defined but strenge..

like water, like wind...
feeling just read,understood...

It is not only light that falls over the world,
Spreading inside your body it's suffocated snow ..
So much as clarity ..taking it's leave of you
As if you were on fire from within.

The moon lives in the lining of your skin.

- Pablo Neruda

i love that almost symbiotic feel just after sex. it is a time when a man feels more love for his partner than he is able to express at other times. such a sensitive and correct piece. lovely.
